Behavioral Assessment Protocols
The following screens are used to assess general behavioral effects, appropriate dose levels, and to examine day-night activity, exploratory and social behaviors. These screens have been standardized for use with dogs, and are under development for use with the cat.
- Open Field Activity (Spontaneous behavior in controlled environment)
- Curiosity (Exploratory Behavior)
- Human Interaction (Social Behavior)
- Mirror Test (Social Behavior, Theory of Mind)
- Day-Night Activity (Continuous recording of behavioral activity over a period of days, revealing differences with time of day)
- Food Consumption
- Motor ability (Assessment of movement disorders such as arthritis)
